This is GREAT, Vicki....you must have been doing some fancy footwork to get this many shots!

It really was a lot of fun. I don't think these cows were used to street parades. As you can see, they ran up on the sidewalks, approached people and cars. And the goats! The one you see at the end of the clip bolted right after that and people in the crowd had to grab it.

What a fun video, Vickie. You've done it again with some super photography!

Way cool Vickie! What were those frisky "girls" doing down in the valley in July? Anyone know?

It was June. Unfortunately, we learned that the cows are not up in the alps in June, so I was thrilled to experience this little "parade" right in our hometown of Meiringen. June was nice, but we don't think we would ever go back again in June.

We've always gone in the four weeks--mid-May to mid-June, except one year in 12 visits, and not this year. Can say the weather is different each time. We have been very fortunate most years, very little rain--not enough to keep us away from our favorite walks. Heat waves in some of those years, and some snow too. We do not like warmer weather--easier to walk longer distances--even "upstairs". We just love spring, "fruhling" fests, and of course, watching the cows go up. We did enjoy going to Bern in July and watching all the sunbathers and daring swimmers jumping into the fast moving river! Think each month has its charms.

When I think of the heat wave, I remember going to the every Wednesday Market down in Luino, Italy (which is a hoot!). I had been so hot and sticky after our walks I decided to buy a cotton house dress, none the like we see anymore in the US. The seller was a woman, about my age--70ish. As I held up a medium, she laughed and laughed, and said--"no, no", grande, grande! We exchanged knowing glances, and I was totally comfortable the rest of the trip.
