We'll be in the Heartland (Meiringen) July 2-16--our fourth Heartland Untour. It is one of our favorite places--but we haven't Untoured anyplace we haven't liked! Maybe we'll meet then.

I also love the La Canonica farm. Every time I visit for work I imagine what it would be like to actually stay there. The views are stunning and the owners are charming. I know you'll enjoy Umbria and Venice. I have a feeling you'll want to return to those places as well.
My husband and I stayed in an Untour apartment in Venice but we were on the island of La Giudecca and away from the crowds. I would suggest you check out the apartment there. Also the bell tower there has really great views and not as crowded as the one in St. Mark's. Read my trip log for other information,
We also loved our one day trip to Cinque Terre and I always love Florence.
Hi Judy!
Welcome to the Cafe. Thanks for asking me be your friend. I can imagine myself trying to savemoney as you and your friend did in San Gimignanoto .

Thanks for asking me to be your friend! I would love to be your friend - Tuscany afficianados should stick together! Went to La Canonica for dinner one evening but didn't think I'd make it either up or down that hill - 1st gear both ways!!!
I also love Tuscany. What I remember best about San Gimignano is having lunch with the local cat on my lap and having the owner of the enoteca close to the entrance to the town invite me into her place to see the incredible views from her terrace. It's a wonderful place.
Hi Judy,
Love to be your friend. Have lots in common. First I hike a lot better after the wine!. (hehe) We live in Wine Country in California.
We really liked our Untours to South Tuscany too. My ID pix was taken at Banfi winery. Did an overnight for Pisa and Cinque Terre. What a gorgeous place that is! Got some great photos there. You will love Switzerland too. It is sooooo easy to get around there and such beauty everywhere. The people are so friendly and fun too!
I would like to go to Venice sometime. Frank and I can't decide where our next trip should be. We just got back from Paris and it was great!
(I guess I like everyplace, huh?)
Hi there,
Thanks for the friend request. Anyone who loves Italy, hiking and food is my kind of person. We have such great memories of Tuscany South... we stayed at LeChuise in Montalcino, and then drove to Venice for two weeks (also with Untours) in the spring of 1999. It was a magical trip. Venice really casts a spell on you, and I'll be looking forward to your trip blog.
We went to Umbria in October of 2001, and it was one of our most favorite Untours. Do not miss the food festivals, which are everywhere in Italy at this time of year. If Eurochocolate is going on in Perugia while you are there, don't miss it. The olive oil festival in Trevi is fun, and we had the best time at a "funghi e tartufo" (mushrooms and truffles) extravaganza in Gubbio. Ciao! Sue

Tuscany and Cinque Terre are among our all-time favorites. But so is Switzerland. We leave on a return visit to the Heartland in five days.

I also adore the Cinque Terre (and wine and hiking...not sure which order).
Laughing out loud over the S. Gimignano toilet story!
Getting excited for Venice and Umbria?!
We also loved our one day trip to Cinque Terre and I always love Florence.
Probably the 1st photos I show will be Venice
