Untours Cafe Photo Contest
One of the best things about the Untours Cafe is the absolute amazing pictures everyone has been sharing. We've long thought that we should have some sort of photography contest to showcase the great photographs (and photographers) out there, and now we've finally got a good reason to do one.
Soon we'll be unveiling more details about the Untours Send a Friend program. Basically, as an Untours alumnus/a, you'll be able to earn $100 towards your next Untour for each new friend (who hasn't traveled with Untours before) who goes on an Untours that you've referred. That's the very very short description of the program.
In conjunction with this, we wanted to do something extra special for Untours Cafe members. We know that some of our biggest fans are here! We'll send you referral cards (around the size of a business card), where you can fill out your name & info (there's also a space for the web address of your Untours Cafe page). Then you can pass these out to your friends who you've convinced to go on an Untour (or even if they're still thinking about it). When your friends book, they'll need to tell us who referred them or send in the card.
Now, you might be asking, what does all this have to do with photos? Well, one side of the card will look approximately like this:
The other side will feature one of YOUR photos! To enter, please email photo@untours.com with one (just 1!) photograph.
By sending us the photo, you're agreeing to let Untours use it. Make sure that your photo is big enough to be printed. When you open it, it should probably fill up most of your computer screen.

- Start of the contest: November 15th, 2008
- Entry deadline: Dec 1st, 2008
- After the entry deadline, Untours Cafe members will vote for the best 10 photos from the top 20 the Untours Cafe team has selected from all submissions.
- Announcement of the winners: December 15, 2008
- Send your best photo (one entry per person) by email to photo@untours.com
- Include your name, a short title or description for the photograph, and don't forget to let us know where it was taken!

I keep looking at the group photo of the Unours Staff, but it doesn't stay on long enough. Would it be possible to post a large version of the staff photo? I don't see Francy.

Hi Bill, I just made that small edit today to show that the cards would have a photo on one side and the Send a Friend stuff on the other.
Francy wasn't there when we took the picture, she's off in warmer climes I think :) You'll be seeing the staff photo soon though!

Here are some questions from Ed Haagen, I thought I'd answer them here in case other people have similar questions!
1. Does this photo have to be taken while on an Untour?
No, the photo does not need to have been taken while on an Untour (but of course we hope it was).
2. Is there a date limitation?
As stated above, all entries must submitted by December 1st, 2008. (Unless you are asking about something else?)
3. How do we vote on the different entries.
Once the submission period is over, we'll put up a page where everyone can vote for the favorite photos.
4. Where do I submit an entry?
Submit your photo according to the guidelines above, by email to photo@untours.com
5. One entry per person? Does that mean my wife can also enter?
Yes, one entry per person. Your wife can also enter a photo.
A group of photography friends use to do this but we had a limit of 5 photos. It is very difficult to select just one photo! You should consider doing this several times a year to select the featured photographs. Just a thought!
Depending on the response, we might well have a photo contest or exhibition more often! We limited this first trial to one photo per person so that we don't get overwhelmed with submissions.
