Untours Cafe

For anyone interested I'm blogging from Venice now on my blog "Meandering with Misha" which you can find at

It's not an Untour but it is an untour as I'm on my own without any group or real itinerary. I just love being a temporary local. People are beginning to recognize me in my neighborhood and ask me where I'm from. People start talking to me in Italian...even though I'm carrying a camera.

I love it here. Thanks Untours for making that first trip possible for me and introducing me to Venice.

I'll be back to you for other adventures someday.

How long are you staying in Venice? Where are you staying?

Ciao Karen,

I'm staying a month in an apartment in Castello. I'm sure the folks at Untours can answer any accommodation questions you may have.

Michelle, I am enjoying your blog. I know how you love Venice, so I'm sure you are having a wonderful time. I remember back in November of 2008 we were headed to The Netherlands on an Untour and you were off to Venice. I commented then that we were both going to be near canals, but I suspected you would be a bit warmer. I'm guessing I was right. I too love Venice. Seeing the Grand Canal for the first time on a bright sunny day is one of my favorite travel.memories.

Keep watching the blog because I'm going to be posting my Acqua Alta Adventure in which my landlord was so concerned That he came and moved me to a different apartment last night because he was afraid this ground floor apartment would be flooded. Had a lovely choice of rooms in the other two bedroom apartment (try explaining Goldilocks to a grown man whose first language is Italian) and it was a nice place in St. Elena but this place where I am is such a warm, cozy apartment plus a real local neighborhood. Even my friend who lives here said I was really tucked away but still less than 10 minutes from the vaporetto.

Yes, indeed I love Venice and if I can get an Italian visa I may just move here in a couple of years..oh, if I can get a reasonable long term lease. And get my bum knee repaired.

Oh, this apartment did not get flooded after all so I'm back. Loving every second of my month and it is flying by way too fast. Ciao

Yes, Amy it is fabulous. My friends, Karen and Mike and I are continuing the celebration tonight at a restaurant recommended by my landlord Luna Sentada...he says not typical Venetian but follows Marco Polo's journey from Venice to the Orient. Look for that post tonight or tomorrow.
