Our first Untour, as well as our first time to Ch was spent in Studio Albert. The Gruetert's made us feel so welcome and such a part of the family that after a couple of days we felt like we were visiting old friends. Albert shared with us that the night before we arrived he dreamed that he went to pick up the guests and that Princess Di stepped off the train. I told him that I was Princess Di without make-up. So for the rest of the trip I was known as Di.
Berit arranged for my husband to do his first para-glide with a friend of her son. Upon landing the whole family met us in the field with champagne. This was just an example of their going the extra mile! We had wonderful dinners and drinks on the terrace and hilarious conversations and just plain wholesome good times.
A few years later we came back to Sachseln but stayed down the hill with the Schaelins as the Gruetert's were full. We still were invited to dinner with all their guests. My last memory of Berit is of her standing on her balcony early in the morning waving the American flag and flashing her famous smile as we departed for home.
A special thanks to Albert and family for sharing such a remarkable lady with all of us. To extend love and joy to others and be greatly loved in return is a wonderful legacy.
Goodbye Berit, may heaven enjoy you as much as we did.
