It was a very loooong thirty hours without sleep to finally make it to Naples airport. We were on time, though, with all bags, and were met by our efficient and charming driver Ottavio. The trip to Amalfi was about an hour, where we were met in the main plaza by Rosa Pauli, the Untours representative here. She's a charming woman, very well organized and full of information. Her English is every good. She stayed in Amalfi to help Untourists there, and we went to Atrani, five minutes down the road, with Ottavio. There we were met at our apartment by Rosa's assistant and shown the ropes. As usual, there was a stash of food in the refrigerator, and some of the most beautiful lemons too! Wine, bottled waters, fresh fruit--enough for a day or two of basic eating.
The Papa apartment is in a building where the owner and several other apartments are located. It is a perfect Amalfi coast apartment. It is light, clean, modern (think Ikea) and both terraces are lovely. I've never seen an Untours apartment so well equipped--cleaning supplies, toiletries, lots of nice towels, BBC tv if you want it, great internet connectivity. Yes, it is small, but you wont spend a lot of time in your apartment! We've cooked meals here like risotto and had salads, cooked some nice meals after exhausting days, and had all needed for doing both. We are spending most of our time on the lower terrace, since by the time the days are over, we are so tired of stairs. I don't see how you could come here and enjoy yourself if you weren't in reasonably good shape. We are both very glad we added stair stepping and hills to our exercise routines. Even so, it is a challenge.
