Untours Cafe

I can't believe we just signed up for an Untours and will leave in two weeks!

This is so unlike us. We usually plan for months and months, but due to family obligations that wasn't possible this year. Now we are taking advantage of Untours "last minute deals" and heading off to Holland in two weeks. I'm frantically making lists. We have a couple of Holland guide books and are reading as fast as we can. I'm caught between being very excited and wondering if we have gone crazy. However, now that I think of it, if we're crazy maybe it's not a bad way to be. How bad can traveling and learning about a new country actually be?

Linda, I really admire you for taking the plunge! I usually plan rather far ahead too, but circumstances sometimes dictate otherwise. And you know what? It's not bad to shake things up and be a little spontaneous. Have a great time in Holland!

Thanks, Powen, for your encouraging words. My husband is the more spontaneous of us, so he is like a kid looking forward to a trip to Disney World. It's hard to live with someone like that and not catch the fever. Everything we've been reading tells us that we are in for a great time and lots of interesting things to see. Like everywhere else we've been, there is always so much to see and never enough time. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Hi Linda,
I'm so glad this last minute decision worked out for you! I'll be sending your final package in the mail today. You'll find your rail passes in there and also our Going Dutch publication, a chock-full-of-nuts of suggestions for "must-sees" and some secret treasures we've discovered over the years. It's been a pleasure helping you plan your Untour. Make sure you send us lots of pictures!

Have a fabulous time. I may just do a last minute trip someday. My hairdresser was so excited last May about my planned trip to Venice (I leave Seattle 10/21) that she booked herself to Tuscany for her birthday...in June. She had about a month till she left. She had a great time. I'm sure you will too.

I've been following your exciting plans along the way and hope your trip is super. I loved Venice and know you will too. We leave Minneapolis 10/21 also so I guess we'll both be looking at canals during the same time. (You'll probably be a bit warmer though.) Happy traveling.

Thanks, Linda. I've checked Venice weather at the www.weatherunderground.com and it's been 75 during the day...I'm having to rethink my wardrobe. I guess layers are always best.

There will be lots of wonderful things to do. The apartments have many guidebooks to look through once you are there. We only gave ourselves about 6 weeks before going and we think that adds to the excitement. We loved Holland and hope you have read our triplog. We'd be glad to answer any questions that we can. Have a great trip.
