Profile Information

What is your favorite place in Europe so far?
Where would you most like to go next?
China and Tibet (sort of a sneaky answer because we are planning to go there in September 2007).
Tell us about one of your favorite places to stay on an Untour. Do you have a favorite host? Apartment? Village?
The Zumsteins in Lungern. We have visited them on other Swiss Untours because they were very special. The apartment had a balcony overlooking the train station and lake. We loved having coffee and pasteries in the morning and coffee and chocolate in the evening on that balcony. The sunsets were beautiful!
Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
When you upload photos to Untours Cafe, you are also giving Untours permission to use the photos in their promotional material (with credit to you)
Falling asleep on a Swiss train and missing a change of trains. We woke up, realized we missed our connection, and knew the beauty of an Untour is to be able to say let's go where this train is going!
Which Untours have you already done?
Swiss- four different areas
Austria;France-Provence and Alsace
What advice would you give others considering an Untour?
Please ask any questions that you might have about an Untour. You will get honest answers from untourists .
What is your favorite Untour? (so far)
Swiss in Lungern (sentimental favorite since it was our first untour)

"If you travel, it must be to seek difference."

My wife and I have just returned from a trip to China and Tibet. After 18 Untours it was quite unique to be on a tour. The title of this blog is a quote from a book titled Travelers' Tales China True Stories. When we have returned from all of the untours and the recent trip it is common to have friends ask, "Why do you go to these far away places?". I now feel that I have a very good answer- "I seek difference". All of the staff at Idyll and our recent tour leader in China and Tibet have…

We are planning our first trip to Germany next year and are undecided about the sampler or just staying 2 weeks in one place--have you tried a sampler and did you like it?

You hit the nail on the head! Of course it is to seek a
difference. And yet now, after visiting every country
except Tibet, India, Ecuador, and several of the African
countries, I prefer the Untour experience and returning to
those places where familiar places and old friends provide
much comfort.
