Tell us about one of your favorite places to stay on an Untour. Do you have a favorite host? Apartment? Village?
Staying "on the farm" in Tuscany, Umbria & Spain was particularly enjoyable. So different from life in Dearborn MI although my partner & I often create what we call "Untour Week-ends" at home. We walk everywhere & find new things to do. Untouring is a state of mind, as well as a way to see the world.
Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
Food: great restaurants & outdoor markets.
When you upload photos to Untours Cafe, you are also giving Untours permission to use the photos in their promotional material (with credit to you)
Tuscany was our first Untour. We were charmed by our apartment on the farm, but not so charmed when we returned late at night after a wonderful dinner and couldn't get the door open. We tried waking up other guests in lower apartments with no success. Finally we banged on our outer door so hard that our German neighbor woke up, came to the door in his "tightie whities" & gave us a lesson in Italian locks.
Which Untours have you already done?
Tuscany, Umbria, Spain, Southern Switzerland, Greece, Prague, Budapest & Vienna
What advice would you give others considering an Untour?
Great to have you here at the Cafe! I love your way of thinking: "...my partner & I often create what we call "Untour Week-ends" at home. We walk everywhere & find new things to do."
Words to live by!!! Is it Ok if I post that on the main page?
My husband and I kind of follow your example with an "Untour Three-Day Weekends" at home. We make like we're on vacation. We try to go to new restaurants, visit new places, and engage in conversation with locals. There's so much to see and do here in the States, BUT YET, there's an additional thrill when you travel overseas. We save some of those adventures for longer periods of Untours time.
One day, I would like to visit Greece and "walk in the steps of some of those ancient philosophers." When may we expect to view some of your Greece photos?
