Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
My hobbies are making things that can be eaten or drank. I enjoy making breads and rolls. To go along with the bread I make summer sausage and also smoke things like jerky, salmon and turkeys. To finish this all off I make some really good homebrew and home made wine. My most favorite brew is a Bavarian Weisen. Since we are going to Germany and Austria this fall guess what I will be doing? Put this on your must see list if going to the Salzburg, Austria area.

We went on our first Untour September 3-26. What a wonderful time we had. We visited the Rhine area for the first week, the Bavarian castle the second week and then went to the Salzburg area in Austria. We finished up the trip with two days in Munich for Oktoberfest. Like I said, we had a great time and each week had it's special memories and all are great choices for an Untour. I won't go into the details or try to convince anyone that they should do what we did. I will say as a first time… Continue

Hi Sue,

Thank you for the welcome. We are going on our first Untour in September. We have three weeks scheduled for the Rhine, Schloss Sommersdorf and Pfarwerfen, Austria. We will finish up the trip with two days in Munich for Oktoberfest. This is our first Untour and we are really excited and can hardly wait.

Hi again,
I thought your screen names were great but you had me rolling with laughter at your screen picture. Fun-ny!
We're almost neighbors...well both in Northern CA anyway. We're in Petaluma.
Hey if you have any questions about the Castle Untour, feel free to ask. I sent you a friend request to make it easier to email.

Hi Bob and Diane,
I haven't been keeping up with the cafe lately, as you probably noticed. We will be coming home on Sep 10 so we will just be crossing the ocean with you as you start your trip. Lots of planning still to do. Have you decided what you want to see? We are trying to figure out to skip over to London to see relatives and having trouble getting them planned in. But will have to figure it out! Linda

Hi Bob and Diane
I enjoyed seeing your photos from the Lichensteinklamm ravine. We just returned from our Untour in Salzberg and had this sight on our agenda. Unfortunately we missed it by 15 minutes. We were up at Glossglockner that day and spent too much time looking at the fantastic views up there. It was closed by the time we got down there. I have seen similar features like this in Canada and Mt. Rainier in WA state. I also saw there was a spot east of Golling where the stream cut into a narrow gorge.

Hi Ed,

Sorry you missed it. Yes, you are right there are many examples of the powers of Mother nature and water changing the landscape. Having had a career in the field of hydrology, I still get excited when I see her powers at work and the ever changing beaty that she presents us. Wouldn't it be great to be able to live for a few centuries to watch these onging changes. Well maybe not with the way we treat our natural resources these days. Anyway part of the excitment for me was the engineering that these folks did to create the walkways and paths back in the 1800's, it's amazing to me.

I enjoyed looking at your pictures on your site also, great job. I have around 1800 pictures from our trip. I might have to stick around for a couple of centuries just to go through them all.

Bob
