What is your favorite place in Europe so far?
Love it all! Each country, region, or city is unique unto itself. I can't pick just one.
Where would you most like to go next?
Back to Poland (for the 5th time) to explore this amazing country in depth. Then, more travel into Central and Eastern Europe. But, the truth is I'm always ready to go anywhere in Europe.
Tell us about one of your favorite places to stay on an Untour. Do you have a favorite host? Apartment? Village?
Never took an Untour, but they look marvelous. My husband and I travel independently and really enjoy apartment stays. Untours has some terrific apartments with great locations and amenities. I really like the idea of using a base location and branching out from there. We tend to travel from city to city, only spending a maximum of 4 nights in each place to date. The Untour samplers would fit our mode of travel to a tee.
Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
I simply marvel at the beauty of each place we visit and love meeting the locals.

We recently returned from a trip to Rome, Krakow, and Budapest. We celebrated a local friend's birthday in Krakow. I contacted his family members online (almost a miracle in itself that I found them) and made a luncheon date to meet with them in a little town close to Zakopane, PL. The "birthday boy" didn't make the trip to meet his family (long story), but my husband and I couldn't leave them sitting alone at the restaurant, so we made the trip by ourselves. They were unbelievable people and we spent the day with them at their home. We've never been treated so graciously and we now claim them as our family! For all the history and sights that Europe has offered us on our travels, I still relish the kindness of strangers most of all.

That remarkable day has prompted me to investigate our own family lineage (I'm of German descent and my husband is half Polish) and try to meet some of our own relatives the next time we travel to Europe. Yes, it takes a leap of faith to meet strangers. But, this time, it was an awesome leap!
