Linda, I saw this comment you wrote to Kim Paschen:
"If anyone needs some free advice about NYC feel free--I find that tips from
a native new yorker--living en scene--and freely given is a great inspiration
for people to travel here--so I would like to set up a forum where I can ramble
freely with ideas about NYC--from its history to its architecture to its
restaurants, etc.--like a whats new in NYC page, what do you think?
I don't know what Untours had in mind for the Destination pages, but perhaps you could carry out your ideas there? I hope to visit NYC someday, and would certainly enjoy some virtual travel in the meantime.
One of the great pieces of New York City landscape is Central Park
It has been under the direction of the Cental Park Conservancy, a private
corporation in partnership with New York City, and now is looking really
beautiful and is well-maintained and even using sustaibable environmental
systems. If you check out the website www.centralparknyc.org you can
find out about the designers of the park Olmstead and Vaux, architecture,
how the park works, all about the various walking tours and special locales
within the park and the various nature centers there. Great photos of the
park also. So take a tour and you will be prepared when you visit to embark
on a real tour which you can tailor to your interests. There is a great gift
shop at the park now and a wonderful Carousel--and so many other wonderful
sights four seasons a year. thanks for the note about destinations.l
