Wetterhorn and Matterhorn upclose and personal

When I first came to Meiringen in 2001 I looked up at the surrounding mountains and the Wetterhorn and said "I will climb that mountain one day..ha ha ha"

At the time, I thought it was a joke but little did I know that 6 years later I would be able to look down on Grindelwald from ca 12,000feet and feel very proud of myself! See the Eiger and Jungfrau in the distance? Well worth the 4am start and ca 10hours hiking, climbing and at times…

Guides in Greece-Napflion, Athens, Delphi, Corinth etc

I read recently about a Untourists positive experience with hiring a taxi driver for a day driving tour of Athens and Cape Sounion. They were very satisfied, but the price they quoted was much higher than it should have been in my experience. It's sometimes hard in Greece to know who is reputable and who is not and prices can vary greatly for services depending on who you talk to. I always like to ask people I know for recommendations when possible so I thought I would offer one to you all…

Swiss Wine

I come from California and have enjoyed many wine tasting trips to the Napa and Sonoma valleys. Over the years living in Europe, wine has become a hobby and I love to try the local wines wherever I go. I'm not an expert, but I do know some people who are and I'm happy to listen and learn from them when I can. Many people do not know how wonderful Swiss wine is, partly due to rarely finding it in stores outside of Switzerland. The various reasons for this have been explained to me by…

Public Bikes in Paris

Hi everyone, I just saw this NY times travel article and wanted to post the link. It's about public bike rental in Paris (I was recently in Lyon and Vienna and they had the same system) For those looking for a unique city experience, bikes are a wonderful way to get around and see a much different viewpoint of the city.…

Hi Jessica! We've never met even though our previous Untour trips have been to the Swiss Heartland. That's because Eleanor and I have gone during off season.

HI Jessica,

It is GREAT to see you here! I know you will have a lot of interesting information to add...but little did I know that you were an expert on Greece as well as Switzerland. Thanks for that very good information you added to the Naplio conversation.

I am thinking we might have some similar discussions that would be helpful for people arriving in Switzerland....and coming from you, our EXPERT on the ground...it would have more weight.

Hopefully, we will meet someday. I hear great things about you.

Hi Marilee,

Well thanks! Although I dont know about being and expert...I'm happy to add my two cents where I can though! I hope I can add something useful to all the discussions.

I hope to meet you too and it just may happen soon! I plan to make a trip to the states in Nov (oooh, thats coming up!) and hope to make it by the Media office to say hi and check out the worm composting for myself! I look forward to seeing everyone.
take care,

Hi Jessica, I read in your post about your friend, Rebekka Stathopoulou. I am going to Nafplio next week. Can you share with me Rebekka's phone number or maybe her email address so I can talk to her about a tour around Athens? Thank you very much.

Hi Jessica,
Meiringen is a beautiful town. Frank and I made sure we visited it on our 2004 Swiss Oberland Untour. Frank's maternal ancestors were from Meiringen so it was fun adding pictures of their town, the church, falls, etc to our Family Tree records.

Hi Jessica!
Here we meet again! Hah, you did it! ;-))
It's a very good thing, this UntoursCafe, don't you think?
How about a coffee next week in Meiringen? I will call you, ok?

That email sure is tricky. My email was just saying that I didn't realize there is an email funtion in the Cafe. My office computer's security system blocked any pop-up funtion and I din't see your email until Saturday at home. Anyway, I will try either 6 or 7 at the end of phone numbers to find your friend. Thank you so much for the resource. I will be leaving Tuesday morning.
