Did you know that the entrance to the Louvre permanent collection is free on the first Sunday of every month and on July 14.

Also the Musee Carnavalet is an interesting museum about the history of the city
in the Marais district and the permanent collection is free

Just a comment about the Musee Carnavalet. It was very interesting, plus the building itself was great. Unfortunately, there are no English translations of the exhibit. I read marginal French so could follow some, but if you don't, it would be difficult.

Also, a note about the Louvre. On Fridays, it is open late so it is possible to really make the most of your day there.

Thank you for the handy info about the weather and the museums. Keep it coming! Can use all the help I can get for this trip. We will be staying in the Marais district.

Good point about the Carnavalet...I'd fogotten that. The Marais is a great area, you'll love it! I'll try to think of some other suggestions...

I have a couple of questions about my upcoming trip to Paris in late October.
1. I'm staying at the Birague apartment in October. Anyone else stayed there?
2. Air France allows small carry-on and a tote. What constitutes a tote? (or should I just avoid the hassle and check in my bag?)
Thanks for any info.

My wife and I have visited Paris twice and fell in love with the city.  We were with our sons, 16 and 18, on our first visit.  We were on a 10 day road trip through Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy.  We had to skip Italy due to taking an extra day in Paris.....

Our hotel was in the Latin Quarter and we walked to all the tourist sites we were going to try to see in one day.  OMG were the feet crying. That was the best way to see the major sites on a budget.

Has anyone else noticed that in the opening scene of *The Good Thief's Guide to Paris* by Chris Ewan, the apartment he's breaking into is the Birague, where we stayed just outside the Place des Vosgues?
