Untours Cafe

This was started on Idyllchat by Laura Locklin. I am putting my two cents in as part of the discussion:

When we were on our Paris Untour in 2008, Eleanor needed some clothespins. Before visiting the hardware store on rue Montorgueil, I made a drawing of a clothesline with clothes and clothespins. I drew an arrow pointing at the clothespins. I was also prepared myself with the French phrase "Avez-vous c'est" (Do you have that). When we couldn't find clothespins, I got the attention of a clerk and asked "Avez-vous c'est" and pointed to the clothespin in the drawing. He immediately went and got what I wanted.

After thanking him, he asked me in English "What is the English word for that?" I told him "clothespin." We were both pleased with the transaction.
